A commitment of love ceremony is similar to a wedding but is not legally binding by law in Australia. The ceremony is usually designed for:
- Adult same sex couples who wish to formally make a public declaration by celebrating their promises, commitment and love to each other in the presence of family and friends, or if preferred in private.
- Couples that have married abroad and wish to share the experience with the guests who could not attend their wedding.
- Couples who have been through a difficult period of their relationship and have found a renewed love, change in lifestyle and have chosen a new commitment to their union.
We can create together a special and unique ceremony with vows pledging your promise, exchange of rings or gifts, beautiful poetry and symbolism.
A Certificate of Commitment will be presented to the newly committed couple on conclusion of the ceremony.
Q. WHAT IS A COMMITMENT CEREMONY?
A. A Commitment Ceremony is a dignified Ceremony for adult couples who wish to make a public declaration of life-long commitment, love and dedication. The occasion can be shared with family and friends or, if you prefer, the Ceremony can be held in private without guests.
Q. WHAT HAPPENS AT THE CEREMONY?
A. Every Commitment Ceremony is unique. Working within the Ceremony framework, couples create their own unique celebration by selecting words, poems and readings that hold a special meaning for them.
Q. DOES THE CEREMONY HAVE ANY LEGAL STATUS?
A. NO, the Ceremony is simply something that you and your partner choose to do as a public gesture of love and commitment to each other. Unlike a religious or civil marriage a commitment Ceremony or any document issued as part of the Ceremony has no legal status and cannot be used to establish legal rights.
Q. HOW LONG DOES THE CERMONY LAST?
A. The Ceremony usually lasts about 20 -30 minutes but can vary if other options are included.
Q. WHERE CAN THE CEREMONY TAKE PLACE?
A. The Ceremony can take place at any venue, gardens, churches, boats, restaurants or home gardens. Or simply where you met or proposed within reasonable location. Some places like beaches and gardens may need Council or Foreshore approval.
Q. HOW MUCH DOES THE CEREMONY COST?
A. The cost of the Ceremony depends on the day and place of the Ceremony, however an initial non-refundable deposit of $200.00 is required to make a booking, but this will be deducted from the total cost of the Ceremony.
Q. WHO SHOULD I CONTACT FOR FURTHER INFORMATION?
A. Contact Vicki for further information and if the date and time of your Ceremony is available then we can organise to meet and plan your special day.
Q. DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO BOOK THE CEREMONY?
A. Yes, it is best to make sure you are happy with me as a celebrant so please phone Vicki (02) 9605 5486 or 0407 332 214 for a suitable time, daytime or evening appointments.
